Spring Sports - AYL Update
AYL Families
We truly understand that this is a difficult time for everyone. We also know that everyone would like specific dates and answers, regarding the start of the AYL spring sports seasons. We are in a very unpredictable time, and we do not know when the social distancing mandates will be removed so at this time we do not know what decisions will be made in the coming weeks. What we can tell you is this; we believe strongly that getting back to sports will be incredibly important for everyone involved, coaches, players, officials and fans, and for that reason alone, we will maintain the plan for a later start to the spring season

In light of the social distancing guideline extension set forth from 4/1- 4/30, our current plan will target the start of the season in early May.  It is not our intention to give false hope to families, however, we are trying to get through this with the best possible outcome for you and your children. We continue to remain hopeful that we can open the fields and get the kids out to play as soon as the state allows us to do so! Returning to some form of normalcy will be crucial in the healing process for both children and parents.

As most families are aware, The AYL has been following all state and local guidelines including CHSAA, which has delayed their season.

We will continue to follow the state guidelines and recommendations, however, unlike CHSAA, we can extend our season into the summer months (this is only a possibility).  If a time comes that CHSAA cancels their spring season, we will no longer follow their lead as we can play further into the season than they can.

Board members are meeting virtually on a weekly basis, discussing options for all of the AYL sports.  We are committed to getting the kids back to what they love most and helping you and your families regain the normalcy of enjoying youth sports.

We hope that you and your family are staying healthy!  We appreciate your patience and trust in us during these challenging times.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update from AYL

AYL Families

For more than 50 years the AYL has brought communities together through Youth Sports. We know it has been a trying time and our hearts go out to everyone affected by the Corona Virus Covid-19 Pandemic.

As the Covid-19 issue remains ever changing the health and well-being of our families has remained our top priority. Because of that, we are postponing all AYL Youth Sports activities until further notice. This does not mean we are cancelling any of our spring sports season including: Volleyball, Softball, Baseball, Boys and Girls Lacrosse.

FAQ’s

When will you start the season?

We are currently following all state and local guidelines including CHSAA, which has delayed their seasons until April 18th, 2020. We cannot predict what is going to happen in the coming weeks and we think it is irresponsible to attempt to predict what will happen. We can assure you this- we will have a season….we just don’t know when we will be given the all clear.

Why not just cancel?

There are several reasons not to cancel:

  • We believe that when this situation ends our kids (and parents) will need to return to some form of normalcy to help in the healing process.
  • Keeping the season will help our local small businesses, sports clubs and officials. End of year parties (at local establishments), part-time officials, and youth sports organizations (who often operate on a thread) are a critical part of a strong community. Now is the time to stand together and make sure we stay strong.
  • Cancelling puts our non-profits clubs at risk of not being able offer all of the services we have had in the past.

Can I get a refund?

  • At this time NO clubs will be offering refunds. There are a couple reasons for this:
    • We have already spent a portion of your dues on non-recoverable expenses including: insurance, field permits, training, sports equipment, scheduling etc.) .
    • WE WILL HAVE A SEASON….it just may start a little late.

What will the season look like?

Every idea is on the table. We have creative, smart people working to ensure we have a solution. We cannot know what is going to happen over the next few weeks and thus cannot predict the solution we will use. It will be different for each sport.

i.e. Condensed season- more double headers- tournament play every weekend- using practice times for games….there are a lot more ideas and will let you know as soon what we decide as soon as we can.

I know this is a time where kids and families are anxious or even scared. We get it, we too have families. We want nothing more than to get our kids and families back together at the parks, gyms or baseball diamonds for some fun, exercise and great competition with friends.

On behalf of the entire AYL I want to thank you for putting your trust in us and we appreciate the support for your local community based club. We are committed to working through these challenging circumstances together.

AYL IMPLEMENTS NEW MANDATORY HEALTH & SAFETY PROCEDURES

Hawk Families... Please take a moment to read the below message from the President of the AYL.

The AYL is the League that the Hawks along with 9 other neighboring organizations participate in.

Due to concerns surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and other health authorities, The AYL is implementing new, mandatory health and safety procedures as part of a proactive approach to preventing the spread of germs.

Throughout the AYL organization, we are adopting these new measures effective immediately. We cannot stress enough how vital it is that all AYL participants adhere to these guidelines.

“No-Contact/No-Handshake” Policy

AYL is immediately instituting a precautionary “no-contact, no-handshake policy” to be observed at every level of the organization until further notice. This includes all physical contact and extends to customary game-related activities, such as pre-game coaches’ handshakes, umpire-coach introductions, and post-game handshakes between members of opposing teams. Instead, staff, players and coaches should use verbal queues, such as saying “good game,” without shaking hands, high-fiving or fist-bumping.

Maintain Good Hygiene Practices

All AYL volunteers, membership and participants in AYL sanctioned events should be aware of the coronavirus risk and take the necessary precautions to avoid exposure to germs. This includes maintaining good hygiene practices. We strongly recommend the following:

  1. Wash your hands often, using soap and water for at least 20 seconds each time
  2. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol; this is suggested after any physical contact with another person or with a shared surface
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  4. Cover your mouth and nose – with a tissue, if possible – when coughing or sneezing, then properly discard the tissue in the trash
  5. Avoid close contact with anyone else who is coughing or sneezing or who is otherwise sick
  6. Clean or disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  7. If you are sick stay home!!!! Don’t attend any practice or game.

Advice from the CDC

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has a specific Q&A regarding the virus in children:

Q: Are children more susceptible to the virus that causes COVID-19 compared with the general population and how can infection be prevented?

A: No, there is no evidence that children are more susceptible...

- see here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/specific-groups/children-faq.html

We will provide updates related to these new measures or let you know about any additional precautions to take if and when they become necessary. We appreciate your cooperation in following these new procedures as we work together to maintain the highest health and safety standards as an organization.

We will be looking at the decisions made my CHSAA and the local public schools on what decisions we will make in the future.

REFUND POLICY

HAWKS REGISTRATION FEE
REFUND POLICY

Parker Youth Sports recognizes that, from time to time, players may need to withdraw from a sport due to unforseen circumstances.  Registration fees are based on a variety of costs determined by the total number of teams and number of players registered on each team.  Because many of these costs must be paid in advance, player withdrawals still result in a cost to Parker Youth Sports.

As such, we have adopted the following policy for refunds to accommodate people whose plans have changed while maintaining the financial responsibilities associated with each sports season:

THERE IS A $20 PROCESSING FEE DEDUCTED FROM ALL REFUNDS

LATE FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE

DATE REFUND

BEFORE ROSTERS
100% Less $20 Processing Fee

AFTER BEING PLACED ON A ROSTER
50% Less $20 Processing Fee

AFTER  SEASON BEGINS
No Refund
